At Scandinavian Sauna, our mission is to improve physical and mental health for as many people as possible. We design and build saunas of the highest quality. Timeless in design, crafted to last, and made to bring relaxation and well-being into everyday life.
Since our founding in 2020, we have delivered more than 140 Scandinavian Saunas across Europe, the UK, Switzerland, and Japan. We are deeply grateful for everyone we have met and worked with along the way, each project has shaped who we are today.
Our story is one of international collaboration. With roots in Sweden, Denmark, and London’s design industry, we have brought together skilled partners across Europe. Our craftsmen are Polish, our axles German, and our wood sourced from certified European forests.
What unites us is a lifelong love of saunas. Founders Cecilie & Jakob grew up with sauna traditions in Sweden and Denmark, and that passion continues to guide our commitment to creating exceptional experiences for our clients.

Scandinavian Heritage
The sauna is deeply rooted in Scandinavian history, dating back thousands of years. Originally, saunas were practical, multifunctional buildings used for hygiene, warmth, and survival during long, harsh winters. A place to cleanse the body, care for the sick, and even give birth in some regions. Over time, the sauna evolved into a central part of daily life and social culture across Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway, balancing utility with relaxation and community.
We embrace this rich heritage in our designs. Our goal is to create highly practical, mobile saunas that integrate seamlessly into both natural landscapes and built environments. Whether traditional farmhouses or contemporary homes. A Scandinavian Sauna feels at home beside a barn, an agricultural shed, or a modern minimalist house.
Simplicity is at the core of our philosophy, not just in aesthetics, but in functionality. Every sauna we build is designed to be intuitive, straightforward, and enjoyable to use, honouring the balance of practicality and pleasure that has defined Scandinavian Sauna culture for centuries.
Product Development & Production
From our very first build, we have listened closely to client feedback and continuously refined our saunas. Like the car industry, we improve with every model, only we don’t wait a year. Each new build brings updated designs or bespoke modifications.
Our Polish craftsmen have built more than 2000 bespoke saunas over 20 years, drawing on deep practical knowledge. This experience, combined with repeated practice, ensures a higher quality product than workshops building this type of sauna for the first time.
Design Ethos: Simplicity
While it can be tempting to add functionality, anything that is not directly adding to your experience of enjoying heat in nature, is not included. We think of the Scandinavian Sauna as a practical tool that people also hopefully find beautiful. We didn't want the architecture to take center stage or appear dominating in any way. It's a space as much for looking inwards as out, and for enjoying nature in a way that you cannot do without a Scandinavian Sauna. We started looking at other mobile saunas such as barrel saunas and improved some of the design flaws on the barrel such as an oven obstructing the view, lack of level seating, lack of a changing room, low head height, lazy integration with the trailer etc.
For us it was essential to achieve a mobile sauna that is as good as the permanent saunas people have built throughout history in Scandinavia and elsewhere and not make any compromises in the name of mobility.
Some of our clients have decided to take the trailer off and use our mobile saunas as permanent buildings with the option of taking it on the road once in a while if the opportunity or need should present itself. That makes us proud.
Founders Background
We are life and work partners. Jakob, originally an architect and now Creative Director, and Cecilie, initially a project manager and now CEO, who spent years in London’s commercial design scene. In 2016, seeking more meaningful work, we left to support NGOs in rural Philippines and founded our studio, Native Narrative.
We lived in low-income communities for two years, designing and building four Learning Centers for Children and other local projects. Most of this work was pro-bono, and eventually funds ran out. Returning to Scandinavia in 2018, we battled the cold and illness, surviving winter only thanks to saunas.
Growing up with saunas in Denmark and Sweden, we cherished their connection to family, friends, and culture. Reconnecting with this tradition led us to research their health benefits, especially meaningful as we have lost loved ones to heart failure. Inspired, we applied our architectural skills to design the perfect mobile sauna.
Our first client, a Danish winter-bathing community helped us refine the design.
We hope your Scandinavian Sauna brings you as much joy as it has us, helping you build a routine of better mental and physical health while reducing stress.
